After days of being a more lethargic version of herself, cleaning house, and watching TV, she was bringing a basket of clothes upstairs.

I ran up asking if I could take the other half of a sandwich Dad had gotten her two days prior to work with me.

She said, “What sandwich?”

I replied, “The sandwich from Rocco’s… from two days ago… you ate half of it already and I wanted to take the other half, if that’s okay.”

She gave me a confused look and shook her head.

“Sure, but… when did we have Rocco’s?”

With her health only getting worse, and the history we’ve had with it already, each new discovery is like being hit by a bus.
